The Lyon-Saint Exupéry international airport, France’s 2nd largest regional airport, serves 115 destinations around the world and handles 8.5 million passengers annually. In addition to its role as major European hub, Lyon-Saint Exupéry is also a thriving business zone, with more than 200 companies onsite and 5,300 jobs.

With a new lineup of low-cost flights, new destinations, and the expansion of Terminals 1 and 3, the airport of the Lyon metropolitan area is investing in the future and targeting large contracts to boost its international reach.

The new business zone known as “Airparc Lyon-Saint Exupéry” is under construction and will be located at the south entrance to the airport zone. The project – expected to create 900 jobs – will include:

  •  a unique aeronautical training center (over 11,000 sq. m of net floor area) operated by ALSIM .
  • a diversified business park built along the access route to the airport, offering approximately 18,500 sq. m net floor area and 660 parking spaces.

Designed under a sustainable development approach, the buildings of Airparc Lyon-Saint Exupery combine architectural quality, user comfort, energy performance (BBC level – low consumption buildings) and are environmentally friendly. The first building, with 1,750 sq. m, was launched at the end of 2012.

For companies, this business park represents an ideal solution for high quality business set-ups close to the city’s key routes, at the gateway to Europe, and indeed the entire world!

New terminals offering improved services

A new Terminal 3 is planned for 2016 to welcome a new generation of services devoted to Low Cost flights. The hub currently hosts several such airlines: easyJet, Aer Lingus, Jet4You, Air Arabia, Transavia and Vueling.

Terminal 1 of Saint-Exupéry airport is also undergoing a complete renovation since July 2013. The future 3-level building will have 70,000 sq. m and will be able to handle 10 million passengers. The new revamped building will meet HQE® standards and will help boost both conventional and low-cost traffic, while adapting to the evolving expectations and modes of consumption of passengers, thanks to innovative facilities.
