French pharmaceuticals: Laboratoire Aguettant, specialist in medicines and injectable solutions, has its historic headquarters in Lyon
A historical player in the pharmaceuticals industry in Lyon since 1880, Aguettant is a laboratory that specializes in the sale of industrial chemicals and pharmaceutical products. In the late 1950’s the company set up its first production plant in Gerland.
By investing heavily in R&D, Aguettant developed new chemical pharmaceutical products which contributed to medical progress across several areas: emergency medicine, neurology, nutrition and drip solutions, and so on. Aguettant is part of the health technologies sector in France. Their new site will house a production unit, an R&D center, a quality control laboratory, and administrative offices.
The management of the Aguettant family company has been passed down from father to son and the firm now employs 480 people and posted sales of €83 million in 2012. The company continues to develop new medicinal products and procedures in the health sector in order to maintain its competitiveness in a region well-known for its thriving life sciences sector.
In 2009 the company invested €13 million in modernizing and strengthening its production capacity in the Lyon region and has announced a €22 million investment project in 2012 within the Gerland area, which is the heart of the Lyonbiopôle global infectology competitiveness cluster and nerve center of scientific research in Lyon.
