An attractive and dynamic territory
As Europe’s 6th highest regional GDP, Rhône-Alpes is a major economic force, with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. In 2011, 56,350 new companies were established in the region (including 18,333 in Rhône County). More locally, Lyon, a Business City is a network of more than 200 specialist organizations (Novacité, Crealys, CCI innovation, Oséo) serving new enterprises, assisting some 11,000 entrepreneurs every year.
Lyon ranked as the world’s 8th most innovative city in 2011, according to the Australian agency 2thinknow. Thanks to its top-quality educational and training institutions, the Lyon area boasts a large pool of talent and highly qualified workforce, making it a prime destination for digital companies.
Lyon’s culture of partnership
The information technology sector owes its success to the clusters and associations which federate and boost the 400 web companies in Greater Lyon.
Digital Business Space (ENE) works to assist Lyon SMEs in developing their digital usage and expertise via a range of services: project assessment, study of needs, customized advice.
An initiative of Greater Lyon known as Lyon Web Community is an interactive platform and directory of web businesses designed to foster exchange among clusters, training centers and business parks dedicated to the sector in the Lyon region.
