A first for a Metropole: the International World Wide Web Conference, which made Lyon the world capital of the Web in 2012, is coming back for a new edition in 2018. Lyon has once again been chosen to host the forum on new technology.

The application, filed in November 2014, was managed by the University of Lyon, ONLYLYON Tourisme et Congrès, Imaginove and ClusTR. The decision was announced on Saturday 24 May during the 2015 conference held in Florence, Italy. For the first time in its history, the conference is being held in the same city a second time.

This event showcases scientific announcements on the future of Web technology. There will also be a full program of workshops, exhibitions and digital and non-digital events related to the Web, its evolution and its everyday use. The conference will be held in April or May 2018 and is expected to host over 4000 Internet professionals.

As France’s #2 region for digital technology, Lyon Metropole brings together over 400 Web companies with 22,000 jobs. The city’s strong entrepreneurial culture, dynamic local organizations (Lyon French Tech, Imaginove and others) and leading programs in the field  (Espace Numérique Entreprises, Lyon Web Community and others) are among the key factors of this success.
