On 18 September, Lyon received Mr Patrick Deval, Governor of the State of Massachusetts, accompanied by a handpicked delegation of some twenty members including American officials and CEOs.

This aim of this visit was to strengthen ties with the American centre of excellence and, in doing so, develop a policy of partnership between the cities of Lyon and Boston.

They discussed common ground such as their shared sectors of excellence:  biotechnologies, digital technologies, transport and cleantechs. This select delegation was received by Lyon’s public actors (at City hall) and also actors of the region’s economic development (Greater Lyon, competitive clusters, Aderly etc.)

The day comprised several highlights:

– A presentation of the Lyon metropolitan area and its innovative projects

– A meeting with the directors of Imaginove Cluster (digital entertainment)

– A ‘Biotech tour’ to present this sector’s companies in the area (Gerland’s Biodistrict)

Exchanges and round tables with the Senator-Mayor and President of Greater Lyon, Gérard Collomb to discuss the partnership projects underway.

A follow-up visit is planned for the beginning of October, this time in the United States.
