With a presence in Lyon since May 1989, the best known of international police hubs it this year celebrating its centenary, as well as 25 years of operations from its Lyon base.

A real part of the Lyon scenery, Interpol now employs more than 750 staff members, including 600 who work at the Lyon offices in the Cité Internationale district.

The intergovernmental organisation ensures police cooperation between police forces of more than 190 states in order to fight cross-border crime. Since the opening of offices in Lyon the organisation as continued to grow and, since last September, has been dealing with the problem of cybercrime from its new dedicated site in Singapore.

Despite the new centre in Singapore, the  geographic location  of Lyon and the city’s many assets, including transport infrastructure, educational resources  and the international socio-cultural environment, mean that the original Lyon centre is still an important base for Interpol.

In fact, Lyon is the nerve centre of the international hub since the Interpol offices host an action control and command centre which is open 24/7. From the centre, all operations needing activation of international contacts in record time are launched.
