ONLYLYON SCULPTURE INAUGURATED AT LYON SAINT-EXUPÉRY AIRPORT
On July 25th, a permanent sculpture of the word ONLYLYON was installed on the traffic circle at the entrance to Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport.
With the same size as the original sculpture, this permanent installation serves as a symbol of welcome to passengers arriving from all over the world and reflects the international spirit of the ONLYLYON collective initiative.
The word ONLYLYON marks the importance of the partnership between the promotional brand of the Lyon region and the airports of Lyon: historically, the strategy of the airports has been closely linked with the development policies of the local territory.
With 8.5 million passengers in 2013, and continuous growth in traffic, Lyon Saint-Exupéry promises further development, thanks in particular to the construction of a new Terminal 1. It will accommodate the flights of companies other than Air France (representing a total investment of €180 million). Works will begin in autumn 2015 and are scheduled to be completed in 2016.
This re-designed space will open up new opportunities for traffic growth, with a near doubling of potential capacity, to 15 million passengers for the entire Lyon platform.
