Veolia Environnement, the world’s leading service provider to local authorities, set up its  central-eastern regional headquarters in the Carré de Soie area of Vaulx-en-Velin, close to Lyon, at the end of 2013. This move has brought together the different Veolia companies, including Veolia Eau, Veolia Propreté, Dalkia and Veolia Transdev. As a result there are now 600 employees working in the new building, which has 12,600 sq. metres of office space.

The Cardinal Group, in collaboration with the architectural firm Hubert Godet, were tasked with investment, promotion and management of the building and were responsible for its delivery. For this new operation, HQE (High Quality Environment) certification was sought, which means that the building produces more energy than it consumes.

The Cardinal Group also chose to call on the services of Medieco, experts in building health and safety, in order to design healthy working spaces for employees (in particular with regard to the choice of building materials and equipment according to levels of emissions of particles which can be damaging to health).
