<P>&nbsp;</P> <P><STRONG>Opticities is a European project which aims to produce a set of data on urban mobility: it will be piloted by the public and open to the private sector in order to test innovative tools</STRONG>. The project will cost 13 million Euros, seven million of which will be financed by the European Commission as part of the European Union&#8217;s 7th research and development programme. <STRONG>It was officially launched at the beginning of December in Lyon. </STRONG></P> <P><BR><STRONG><STRONG><A title="" href="http://grandlyon.com/" target=_blank>Greater Lyon </A></STRONG>was chosen to coordinate this project,</STRONG> thanks to its expertise in the field of mobility, demonstrated through works carried out by <A title="" href="http://www.optimodlyon.com/" target=_blank>Optimod&#8217;Lyon</A>, a platform that will be up and running in 2014 and which will allow the city to optimise the mobility of people and goods in Greater Lyon. <BR></P> <P><STRONG>The Opticities project will take place over the course of three years</STRONG>, and should be able to go further than Optimod&#8217;Lyon by bringing together 19 European industrial and academic partners alongside Lyon, including Madrid, Turin, Gothenburg, Wroclaw and Birmingham. <BR></P>
