A CITY WITH BALANCE
According to the French weekly newsmagazine Le Point (in January 2005), of Frances 100 largest cities and towns, Lyon offers the best quality of life. Lyon provides its residents an exceptional level of comfort, with easy-to-use public transport, cleanliness, security, a low level of pollution and more. Every effort is made to give Lyons citizens a quality life and sense of well-being. Lyon spends more money on sanitation than any other large French city: 65 per inhabitant, compared to 12 in Paris.
Lyon has an exceptional public transport system declared Hans Rat, President of the International Union of Public Transport Systems, upon visiting Lyon in Spring 2005. With 4 metro lines, 3 tramway lines (and 1 more under construction, which will go from Lyon to the Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport), 2 funiculars and more than 100 bus lines, Lyon boasts the most extensive public transport system in France outside of Paris.
